Earth Day

I'm all for preserving the environment. I hate to see cities spreading out and taking over the land. Hell, I even hate it when I go to a campground and find it full of RV's., so don't take me for somebody who doesn't care about our planet when I bash Earth Day. The fact of the matter is that from what I can see, there's a whole lot of bad science behind the propaganda being spread by many of today's ecologists. This being Monday, and a rough one at that, I'll leave you with two things. First a link to the current Earth Day site. Second, a pic of some propoganda from Earth Day 1970.

Learning from Virginia Tech

I've been waiting to write this post for several days because I just didn't know how to approach it. Firstly, my prayers go out to the victims of the recent tragedy at VA. Tech. Originally, I had planned to predict that the media would be flooding us with images of the coward who perpetrated this act. Such a thing would be pointless though, nothing more than a statement of the obvious. Too obvious even, to follow with the theme of this blog.

I've already discussed my feelings about the murderers that have flooded our society. These scumbags always leave a note, pictures, videos, etc. Something to let the world know who they are and what there motives were. Why that is, I don't know. Maybe they're looking for fame, maybe they're obsessed with immortalizing their names. The sad fact of the matter is that the media plays strait into their hands. The latest killer in Virginia went so far as to mail a recording strait to the media, knowing that it would be devoured by them and regurgitated to the rest of the world within minutes of receiving it. As always, the gossip leaches of society happily gorge upon this little morsel, left behind by a monster.

Once again, we have proven that no matter how many times history repeats itself, we fail to learn from it. It's already been proven in Mississippi and Utah that allowing citizens to carry arms for protection stops these atrocities, yet we still do not allow law abiding citizens to carry firearms on college campuses. If this student had been one of the buildings targeted at VA. Tech, the outcome may well have been different. There could have been only one or two, possibly no deaths at all, if even one of the victims had been allowed the right to protect themselves.

Until we can start learning from our mistakes, disgraceful soulless acts, they will continue to occur. It's high time that we as a society as a whole became educated to the happenings of the world around us.

Stupid Question of the Week, Don Imus

I haven't made a significant post in quite a while and to be honest, I just don't have the time for it right now. In a feeble attempt at a cop out, I'm going to start the "Stupid Question of the Week." I might also just do it this once to get a quick post out and never go back, but that's the beauty of blogging. I can do whatever I want and if you don't like it, you don't have to read it.

This week's question:
Why is it that Don Imus is being crucified for saying "nappy headed hos" but Mike Nifong and the yet unnamed accuser in the Duke Lacrosse case have yet to be targeted?

Or, to put it bluntly:
Why can a black individual claim that they are the target of racism while a white person can't?
